Editing MPEG - The Myths and the Truths (ac219KB, 4 pages)
GVG Profile PDR300 and Editware VPE Editing Controller with Super Edit. A White Paper by Roger Crooks, Tektronix and Jay Coley, Editware.

Is Hybrid Editing For You?
Jay Coley authors this discussion on linear and non-linear and why a HYBRID system that combines both may be your best overall solution. Linear editing? What's that? The term "linear" was the process of copying selected material from source tapes to an edited master tape, if you wanted to make a change, you would have to re-record everything that followed your change. The term "non-linear" became widely used because video media is stored on disk, and to locate and view a particular scene is immediate wiht random access. (04/17/2001)

Sony MAV-555
We have a new VTR-like driver for the MAV-555 video server. It can be used as a recorder, a player, or a dedicated player/recorder at the same time. Controls are just like those for a VTR. On the VPE you manually load clips on the ports from the MAV control panel. On the DPE, you select clips from the Super Edit clip assignment page via the Windows-based media management (clip loading) feature. (10/24/2000)

Hybrid Editing with Editware and Profile
DPE and VPE Editing System users who have a Grass Valley Profile PDR or XP can have the best of two worlds - the ability to edit with high end online equipment and operate at non-linear speed. Get the most from your linear equipment, including video switchers, digital effects, audio mixing consoles, digital VTRs, by adding a Profile - and if you are not yet using one, a DPE or VPE Editing system from Editware.
